Gladstone Boys, Eskymo Girls Dominate Golf Meet
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Braves won the boys championship of its home golf meet on Monday, while the Escanaba Eskymos easily took the girls meet. In the boys meet, Gladstone won with 312 stokes while Escanaba was second with 315. Eskymo senior Nick Aird was the medalist, shooting a 75. Gladstone's Bryce Douglas shot a 76, while Braves freshman Rudy Peterson also careded a 76. Gladstone senior Kyle Pouliot (pictured above) overcame shooting a '10' on the first hole to card a 79. Adam Scheeneman added an 81 for the Braves. Escanaba's Johnny Kositsky shot a 78, while Nathan Rousseau and Calvin Pinar both carded 81's. Escanaba's top golfer, Dylan Gauthier, struggled and finished with an 85. "I'm not worried about Dylan," Robinette said. "He'll do just fine." As for the girls meet, it was all Eskymos, as they won the meet by a wide margin with 369 strokes. Freshman Paxton Johnson was impressive, burning up the Terrace Bluff Course with an 84. Emily Hossele shot a 91, Kaitlyn Cole a 96, and Megan Dagenais carded a 97. "She's the real deal," Robinette said of Johnson. "These are scores I haven't seen in a long time in girls golf. We've got a nice team. Houghton has been dominant, and they are still dominant. But we feel that we are closing in on them a little bit." Marquette and Kingsford also competed in Monday's quad, and finished far behind. |
