Eskymos Salvage Final Game In Waupun Tourney
 WAUPUN, Wis.---The Escanaba High School baseball team made sure it didn't come home empty-handed from the Waupun Invitational on Saturday by posting a 3-2 win over Seymour (Wis.). This after the Eskymos lost their first two games from the event. Escanaba took a 2-0 in the third inning as Logan Lamb led off with a walk, and Parker LaMarch and Brandon Punzel each had base hits. Justin Popelka was throwing well for the Eskymos, but Seymour tied the game with three straight base hits in the top of the fifth inning. Escanaba regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Popelka walked and Aaron Young was safe on an error later in the inning, bringing home the run. Popelka and Punzel both had two hits in the game. Earlier in the day, the Eskymos lost to Westosha Central (Wis.), 8-6, in a see-saw game. Two runs in the top of the sixth inning broke the tie. Escanaba lost its opener Friday night to Kenosha Tremper, 14-2, in a game called by the mercy rule in the fifth inning. Escanaba (3-5) is scheduled to host Superior Central in a doubleheader, weather permitting, on Monday. The Eskymos will also host Negaunee on Thursday and Bark River-Harris on Friday. Those two games will be broadcast on WCHT-AM (600).  |
