Escanaba Girls Tennis Team Beats Rain, Maroons
ESCANABA---The high school girls tennis season got under way on Thursday for the Escanaba Eskymos, although it was a wet one. Heavy rains delayed the start of the match against Menominee, but the girls pitched in to clean the courts and the match was held. Escanaba won all four singles matches and beat the Maroons, 7-1. The Eskymos travel to Kingsford on Saturday for the Kingsford Invitational, and then will take on Gladstone on Monday. The results: Singles 1. Anna Burch (Esc) def. Liz Stegman (Meno), 6-1, 6-1. 2.
