Popelka Pitches Shutout As Cubs Top Menominee
MENOMINEE---Having a full team really does make a difference. After spending the first two weeks of the American Legion Baseball season with key players missing for basketball camps, weddings, football All-Star games, and high school graduation parties, Escanaba Cubs Manager Tom Ohman finally had a full dugout Tuesday night as his team played the Menominee Red Wave at the new Spies Field. Justin Popelka, who did not play in the team's previous four games in Marinette, pitched a complete game shutout. Sean Bissell, who missed the past week while particpiating in the U.P. High School Football All-Star game, had two hits and drove in two runs. Brandon Punzel and Logan Lamb also had two hits and drove in two runs. Escanaba hosts Gladstone in the annual holiday game Friday night at Al Ness Field. Game time is 8:00. It wll be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com.
