Sault Ste. Marie Student Wins MHSAA Scholarship
Isabella DeWildt of Sault Ste. Marie High School was honored as a recipient of the Michigan High School Athletic Association/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award. NMU Women's Golfer Wins GLIAC Player of Week
The GLIAC has announced its golfers of the week, with NMU's Maya Hunter receiving honors. The NMU women's golf team fired on all cylinders at the Klash in Kentucky this weekend, finishing second as a team and boasting the second-best individual on the field in Maya Hunter. Hunter was steady, posting a first-round 78 before knocking four strokes off her second-round score of 74 for a weekend score of 152 (+8), finishing second behind Paramore of Ashland.
Northern Michigan Men's Ski Team Wraps Up Season
The NMU men's nordic ski team opened up its final competition of the season with the Classic Individual Start from the SuperTour Finals and Spring Nationals, led by Luke Fricker. A total of 72 athletes competed, with a mixture of collegiate and professional skiers. A full list of results can be found here. Luke Fricker was the first 'Cat to cross the finish line, finishing fourth among collegiate athletes and 14th overall with his time of 23:57.7. Kristoffer Karsrud was the next skier across, finishing fifth among college skiers with his time of 24:09.2.
NMU Women's Ski Team Closes 1st Day At Nationals
The NMU women's nordic ski team closed opening day from the SuperTour Finals and Spring Nationals with Henriette Nilssen coming in second among all collegiate athletes. A total of 45 athletes competed, with a mixture of collegiate and professional skiers racing. A full list of results can be found here. Nilssen posted a time of 27:41.2 to lead the 'Cats, finish second among collegiate athletes, second among U20 skiers, and 10th overall. Merle Richter was next with her time of 28:10.7, finishing second among the green and gold, fourth among collegiate athletes, and 14th overall.
