Northern Michigan Wildcats Start Football Practice
MARQUETTE---The Northern Michigan University football team welcomes back its players this week and will begin preparations to battle for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference title when they open fall camp Thursday. "Training camp is always an exciting time for all players and coaches," said head coach Chris Ostrowsky. "I believe our team is ready to take the next step in the process in becoming a brand we all will be proud of as Wildcats. There's a lot of pride in the locker room and I'm excited to lead this group of young men." NMU will open fall camp with its first practice from 3:10 – 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Locations for all practices will be determined on the day of the practice depending on weather conditions. All practices will be held inside the Superior Dome or outside the dome on the NMU Practice Fields. The Wildcats will continue with 11 other practices until classes start on August 25 including at least two full scrimmages. NMU will hold scrimmages on either Tuesday, August 19 at their evening practice or on Thursday, August 21 during their evening practice and will hold a full scrimmage on Saturday, August 23 from 7:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. Northern opens its season on Saturday, Sept. 6, at home against Northwood.
