Escanaba Minor Girls Win Sectional Opener, 12-0
ESCANABA---The Escanaba 9-10 girls Little League All-Star team had an easy time of it on Tuesday in its first sectional tournament game against Penokee Range.Escanaba needed just four innings to post a 12-0 win over the western U.P. team. Escanaba scored three runs in the first inning and then added nine more in the third inning to close out the victory. Bailey Barron had a single, double, and three runs batted in for Escanaba. Macey Lancour added a two-run single during that long third inning. Carson Segorski threw three innings to earn the win in the circle, and she also had a base hit in the game. Candance Carter threw the fourth inning as the Escanaba girls combined to throw a no-hitter. Segorski struck out six and walked four in three innings of work. Madison Houtari took the pitching loss for Penokee Range, throwing all four innings. She allowed 12 runs on seven hits, struck out eight batters and walked five. Escanaba and Penokee Range will play again on Wednesday at 6:00 ET at Lemmerand Park. The game will be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at rrnsports.com. If Escanaba wins, then the girls advance to the state finals in Tecumseh. If Penokee Range wins, then a third sectional game would be played Thursday night in Escanaba. |
