Delta County Softball Teams Play In Superior Dome
MARQUETTE---Three Delta County high school softball teams spent the Easter weekend in Marquette, competing in the annual Spring Swing tournament at the Superior Dome.

The Escanaba Eskymos went 2-1 in the event.

The Eskymos beat Sault Ste. Marie, 4-0, on Friday as Sam Connor hit a solo home run.

Then on Saturday, Escanaba lost to rival Gladstone, 3-2, before the Eskymos beat the Marquette Redettes, 5-2.

JJ Laviolette had the big two-run double that broke the 2-2 tie in the victory over Marquette on Saturday.

The Gladstone Braves toppled Norway, 11-2, on Friday, before beating Escanaba, 3-2, on Saturday. The Braves were also scheduled to play Negaunee and Rapid River Saturday night, but the results have not been reported.

The Rapid River Rockets beat Kingsford, 7-2, in Saturday's first game. The Rockets were scheduled to also face Negaunee and Gladstone Saturday night, but no results have been reported.

In the junior varsity bracket on Saturday, the Escanaba Eskymos beat the Gladstone Braves, 6-1.
